Sunny Nights Fly-In and Air Rally in Finland 2´nd -6´th July 2008

Always dreamed of flying in northern free airspace while enjoying sun shine at the mid nigth? If you answered YES then you are most welcome to the Sunny Nights Fly-In to Pudasjärvi, North Finland!

Finland is a country of thousands lakes surrounded by wild origin nature and over night sun shine in Lapland. In North Finland we have to offer you plenty of free airspace over our sparcely populated country. Our country has many peaceful wilderness airfields where you can sit silent at the camp fire or set up a tent in forest besides the runway. Some of the airfields are equipped also with saunas and cottages to hire.

Pudasjärvi (EFPU 65.24.06N 26.57.02E), located near Lapland, has a splendid two kilometer paved runway, accommodation possibilities, original fire place and sauna as well as pleasing atmosphere. “Pudis” airfield is among one of the most lively gliding centers in Finland with small red cottages and caravans inhabited by pilots all the summer long. For seaplane pilots we offer excellent opportunities. Almost every lake, river and other water areas can be used as an “airfield”.

Amazing Rally” - Sunny Nigths Shell Air Rally

To pilots who desire for challenges and excitement we organize a second international air-rally from Helsinki-Malmi (EFHF) to Pudasjärvi. The first air-rally proved to be a great success in summer 2007 and the next one will take place in the beginning of July 2008. The rally briefing will take place 1´st of July in the evening and amazing air rally will take of on 2´nd of July in the morning local time.

The route goes via eastern side of Finland with several kind of tasks both for the pilot and the crew depending the leg, for example, navigation, spot landing, observation, flight planning and some extra tasks while staying on ground. Airborne tasks are planned partially according FAI Rally flying rules, but remember - only partially.

You can also come by your own route and timetable without participating the rally.
